Story Quilt's classic vintage clutch purse and pattern

I noticed that a lot of Japanese ladies love to use pretty good size and cute clutch purse when they are having their leisure outings.  The size of the purse is normally big enough to put some cosmetic items such as lipstick and compact powder, money and personnel document, and maybe a smartphone too.  It’s light and easy to carry around.  I like the idea so much (especially when I have shoulder pain sometimes).

With simple twist in the fabrics and clutch frame used, I am able to change the style of the clutch purse to suit my occasion.  Since I have got nice rosy vintage fabric, I prefer to make a vintage clutch purse today.  Hmmm …. Size wise , I have a few 12.5cm clutch frame, let met start with that size of clutch purse.

With just 3 pieces of fabrics for FRONT and INNER sides, and fusible interface or iron on batting and 12.5cm clutch frame, I am able to start my clutch purse project already. This project is just perfect for friends with all level of sewing skills.  And for friends with beginner sewing skill, it is advisable for you to try out clutch purse project, you will surely learn a lot of technique here.

Here is the result of my work, if you are fast enough, you can complete this within the day.  Hope you like my work ^v^

It has a larger opening and good size to put quite a number of goodies

It is also a way to decorate your dressing table too.  I love the idea of making bag not only for daily use but also, I want it to be a decorative item at home.

Puffy Shabby Chic Clutch Purse

I really love clutch purses since i was a little kid.  When I grow older and exposed myself to bag making, I foundwith a simple clutch frame, based on their size and shape,  you can really make beautiful purses , all you need to do is to design it.  I am making this one as a start for my clutch purses project.   I believe slowly I will be designing more and more clutch purses from Japanese country style purses to vintage design like this one.   ^v^

Here is the back of the purse.  I chose to use different fabric for the back side of the purse because it adds more color to the purse body.  Apart from that, the corsage of my clutch purse is detachable, I can simple attach it to the front and back of my purse whenever I wish.  This idea creates more room for me to use the purse (I don't have to keep looking at the same purse all the time :p)

This little beginner project is really simple to make, probably you can finish it within a day if you are fast enough.    Here it is, my Shabby Chic Puffy clutch purse.

Besides the purse pattern, I also showed you how to making simple corsage as shown in the photos below.

Double zipper long purse sewing pattern

I’ve had serious craving to try my way of making a double zipper pouch.  After few round of testing, I finally get the measurement and methods right, in a faster and easier method of course!

While testing my instructions to make this purse, I thought of making something more unique than the normal purse, that is to use multiple fabrics for the card pockets.  And my idea works well in my pattern.  When I showed this purse to my friends who came over to my house for coffee break last weekend.  They were all surprised by the interior of my purse and they found that using multiple fabrics actually added so much more character and surprises to a purse.  I really feel so happy for the result.  I have got a lot of ideas in mind now but so far, let’s make this style as the start.

Purse making is really full of fun, when you changed the fabric style, it will change the character of your purse too.  Like this purse, I chose Japanese zakka and vintage style, the result is beautiful.  You can also try as many style as possible using this purse pattern from shabby chic to retro to sporty style. Just play with the pattern, you will surely be amazed with your creations.

Here is my latest double zipper purse.

The purse pattern has 2 zipper compartments for coins and some other loose items / documents.

There are 6 card pockets and 2 large pockets for your money or check book too.

If you are interested in the purse pattern, please feel free to check it at my Etsy shop.  More details about this pattern in the link below ^v^

Starting my new projects

Recalling what projects I've made last year, I found that I have totally no time to do anything at all because throughout last year, I was like working full time as a mover.  Moving from Shanghai back to Malaysia in March, then moving from my old home to new condominium in Kuala Lumpur .. etc.  I am now expert in packing and unpacking things already.

Finally I am now back to my new studio, working on my new projects, the feeling was just so great !!  Here are my elegant cosmetic / traveling pouches, aren't they lovely to carry along ?  Hope you will like all my works  ( ^v^ )

A little gift from my husband ^v^

I am madly in love with teacups especially those with vintage and French style designs.  Lately in Kuala Lumpur, a lot of shopping malls are flooding the lifestyle center with beautiful teasets like this.  Gosh !  I am not sure this is a good or bad news for me because I will always end up buying a piece of tea cup before I realize (really !!? )  hehe ….   I know ladies always find good reason to get something they love.

My husband knows me well, before I knew it, he brought this little gift for me then.  Wow wow wow !  Can’t believe simple pretty thing made me so happy.  This really made my day.

Also today, the letters are readily iron onto the fabrics with the help of the wonderful freezing paper.  Now I am going to slowly sew it onto the background.

1.5 hour later ...... my applique letters are beautifully sewn onto the background.  I am still stuck in the design of how I should present it further,  I will call it a day.  Sometimes you just can rush too much when making quilt project because one little mistake will make you very 'uncomfortable' with the result  My way is to take it slow and steady ..... ^^
