A decorative accessories ? Not really ^v^

It’s another year, what have you plan to make to mark your new project ?

I have been working on something pretty easy and fun to make.  It’s a ball shape coin purse.  I have collected Alice in Wonderland fabrics from Kokka, Japan 2 years ago. I haven’t got any idea on how to turn this fabric into something unique until I saw a little boy playing this colorful ball.  I thought, maybe I should challenge this project. And voila! I finally made it !  Hahaha …. It is so unique especially when I added some beautiful details to the purse.

This unique purse was immediately sold out when I uploaded the photos to my Facebook.  Thank you !  ^v^   .  I also receive a very good comment that this ball shape coin purse is just unique and beautiful as decorative accessories.  Yes, that’s my whole idea by Story Quilt.

A friend from internet suggested that one should make ornaments for Christmas trees which also act as a gifts, pretty good idea.  Thank you, P. L   (^v^) v

You will be surprised that this project is pretty simple to make (because the hard work of experimenting was done by me ^v^).

Just pick and match your favorite pieces of fabrics and start sewing.  Or maybe add some accessories from your “treasure box” (yes, I do have a treasure keeping all kind of accessories ^v^).

Right now, I just want to go and have a big splash at the pool (I have missed it for so long due to on-going and going projects).  See you soon !

I hope you enjoy my works !

Story Quilt's classic vintage clutch purse and pattern

I noticed that a lot of Japanese ladies love to use pretty good size and cute clutch purse when they are having their leisure outings.  The size of the purse is normally big enough to put some cosmetic items such as lipstick and compact powder, money and personnel document, and maybe a smartphone too.  It’s light and easy to carry around.  I like the idea so much (especially when I have shoulder pain sometimes).

With simple twist in the fabrics and clutch frame used, I am able to change the style of the clutch purse to suit my occasion.  Since I have got nice rosy vintage fabric, I prefer to make a vintage clutch purse today.  Hmmm …. Size wise , I have a few 12.5cm clutch frame, let met start with that size of clutch purse.

With just 3 pieces of fabrics for FRONT and INNER sides, and fusible interface or iron on batting and 12.5cm clutch frame, I am able to start my clutch purse project already. This project is just perfect for friends with all level of sewing skills.  And for friends with beginner sewing skill, it is advisable for you to try out clutch purse project, you will surely learn a lot of technique here.

Here is the result of my work, if you are fast enough, you can complete this within the day.  Hope you like my work ^v^

It has a larger opening and good size to put quite a number of goodies

It is also a way to decorate your dressing table too.  I love the idea of making bag not only for daily use but also, I want it to be a decorative item at home.

Busy morning at the farm purse

Mother hen : " Master said early birds get the best deal, hurry, don't be late for our breakfast".

This pouch is based on this idea, I really love to see chicken running around at the farm, always searching for something to eat, they are so cute !!  When seeing this picture is stitched to my handmade pouch, I just can't express my happy feeling to see the result.

Front of this pouch.

I decided to try something new for this bag, a 3 D effect window.  The result is absolutely more lifely compared to normal applique window, that is for sure.

Also for the zipper head (I was lucky that I collected a lot of zipper head each time I visit Japan).  The clock really makes the whole scene more meaningful.

The back of this pouch is purple checked Japanese sakizome fabrics (gingham).  This fabric is one of my favourites too.  Adding a simple touch at the back of the pouch makes the whole thing more colorful instead of plain fabric, also make this pouch more unique compared to other pouches.

Usage :

traveling pouch , cosmetic, as a purse, pencil case as a gift, or any usage you can think of.   The pouch is big enough to

The pouch is also available for sell on my Etsy.  Please drop by anytime. More things will be coming up for sell very soon.

24 Quilt block project

24 quilt blocks is one of the requirement for my Patchwork Intermediate level. Hand stitching every piece of the blocks was no kidding, it's a real torture I would say.

I needed to draw up the pattern given in a 27 x 27 cm frame on a paper. Drawing the pattern requires very sharp measurement otherwise, the next process of stitching will be a screw up. It can be really frustrated especially after completing a quilt block, I found that there was or were mistakes. I have to re-do the whole thing, sometimes to the extend of re-drawing the whole pattern. I felt like giving up a few times already.

I guess that's the magic of patchwork, once you started, no matter how hard the project may be, you'll strive to complete it. Now I have completed the 21st quilt block, 3 more to go.

12 Nov 2008,

I have to admit that working on New York Beauty was the toughest part of my intermediate level project. The round shape area really make me crazy. I had to sew the four sides carefully to show the sharp edges fully. I thought of giving up this block that time but I knew I needed to persist since it's the last one for the project.

1st Dec 2008

I finally completed this block, YEAH !!! I was fully exhauster after completing this block. I decided to take one week off to relax my fingers. Overall, I felt great after my hard effort.
