A simple pouch

I wanted to make this pouch since long time ago but couldn't find a slot to make it.  I am now back to my home town for holidays, so now is really a good time to make it.  This pouch / bag pattern is based to the following book

Here is the bag I am very interested in.
Have a look at this pattern.  I added a zipper to the pocket area, also enlarge the pocket to about 1 1/2 cm.

29/5/2010  Very close to completion now.  The last thing to do is to embroider the X stitches to the Hexagon patchwork.

2/6/10  Here we are.

Instead of using plain fabrics for the inner fabric, I prefer to use colorful pattern fabrics for the interial.  Take a look

Oooohhhh... I have this book ! It has so many lovely projects, many are small projects. I want to try so bad one of them and at the same time I'm a bit apprehensive/scare since I haven't made anything like this before.... LOL.
Your bag is soooo beautiful... as always !!!

Hello, everyone, thanks for your comment.

My 1st Bambina !
You should try for sure. Making bag is like that, you always have the first time experience when making new bag. Just look at the pattern book, think properly before you start. I always do that. Sometimes, when pattern is simple like this one, I will use a paper to fold according to the pattern, figure out how it will turn out, once I understand the full details. That should help prevent lots of mistakes for sure. Please remember to inform me when you complete your bag ok ?

Enjoy !

A beautiful little bag. Such delicate stitching. I love the little charms you've used on the zip too.

Thank You So Much for the Advice !!! It makes a lot of sense to try 1st to figure out how it will turn out !

I need to try it with paper 1st as you said and then with scraps of fabrics that I won't mind cutting ... ;-), just in case I made mistakes.
I will have some free time in about a week, so perhaps then I try to make a small project.
Will definitely let you know how it turns out !

Thanks Again !!! :-)

No problem at all.

Metanoia, that's the zipper head. Japanese really put a lot of effort in the details. The cute zipper head really catch attention from a lot of my friends too. :)

hi, your work is incredible! The thoughtful details you add to your projects are really sweet :-)
I came across your works on flickr a little while ago and just came to know that you have a lovely blog :)

Thank you Pratima. Yes, I do update blog from time to time when I am back to my country. Recording every moment about making each bag, it is just fun for me to read it from time to time, seeing how clumsy I was in the very beginning and getting more and more mature in my works :>.

Cheers !

Hai there, this is my very 1st time who visit your blog. Omg you really have an amazing hand work! It's make me getting heart itchy when looking at it. I love these kind of bags! Just could find much around. Is those picture on the bags are you DIY yourself? it's amazing! Are you selling those bags around or for own purpose?

I love your work! Can you read japanese? Also, do you work in centimeters or inches? I have a couple of books I'd like to make some projects from but can't read the directions! Don't know the metric system! Haha! Gonna try anyway.

Hi, every one. Thank you very much for your lovely comments. I am so sorry that I was not able to access to blogspot when I am in china because the local government banned a lot of sites including blogspot.

Please forgive me for the delayed reply.

For Ashley, thank you very much for your compliment. I do sell my own designed bags to friends from time to time. I will slowly sell my works in Etsy later. Please feel free to visit my flickr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/storyquilt/ , more works will be published there (hugs hugs)

For Roxie, yes, I do understand a bit Japanese because there is no way I can understand the directions without knowing what each term means :) The Japanese bags are all measured in cm. Also, they will include 0.7 cm as their sewing seam. Good luck in trying.

Merry Christmas to all of you ^V^
