A little winter tale ...

I have been longing too much to make this idea into reality since 2 years ago… but I always can’t find time to start it.  Is it an excuse ?  I wonder .. :p

Few weeks ago, I have decided the shape of bag I wanted for this project and started to draft it out (at last !! ^v^).  At least there is a little progress to this project.  I take it pretty slow to slowly sew my heart out for the appliqués of the houses.  Yes, it’s made from the heart.  I just want to make sure these houses really make one feels so heartwarming when they see it.

Here is the front view.

I have been thinking, what should I add to the back of this bag project ? A cute little bus reaching the home ?  snow man ? some beautiful writings ?  Finally I decided to use a snowing view, I simply love it.

Hmmm … to my surprise, I am actually working pretty fast when I decided to take it slow.

Rest is required now.   Am having some icy cold orange juice to refresh ... I just need it.

All stitched up !

Finally I have finished with sewing the 110 pieces of hexagon together.  A little hiccup occurred when I found that I need to add extra line to the entire work, just to reach the height I want for my project.

Taking a closer look, all the hexagons are intact and in good shape !

I am following Japanese way to sew up the hexagon pieces.  Here is how it looks at the back after ironing.

Hmmm … patchwork projects actually required some calculations some times, also some drawing tools that I used during my school time.   What a nostalgic feeling to see the old mathematical instruments again.

Alright, I know the size of the bag and also made my template for the base.  Tomorrow is going to be quilting work.  Pray that everything will go smooth like royal icing !  ^v^

Sunbonnet Sue Round basket bag pattern in my Etsy !

19/11/2014, started working from early in the morning

Finally, I managed to pull myself back to the working mood again, my heart was still with Paris last week.

Ok, I finally appliqué the other side of my new project.  It’s a cozy house with heartwarming trees.  I am not going to appliqué the front road or the field this time, I think I want to embroider a little details here.  Am still trying to think hard for the embroidery details I want to present the field.  Will see  !

20/11/2014, Shopping day !!!

I just want to stop from work, if not, i am afraid I may become anti-social lady soon, i am just too addicted to working.  My husband encouraged me to go shopping to relax myself, yeah, I guess he reminded me that I haven't been doing any shopping for so long. So am sneaking out for some shopping.

I love Kinokuniya bookstore, sometimes I can just stand there and reading the books for many hours.  There are just too many books to read !  Am adding up these 3 books for my library collection.  I think I have more books than clothes compared to other ladies.  Is it normal ??

21/11/2014, Done with my quilting !

Finally, all the quilting details are added to my project.  Hmmm... it's just so romantic !  Time to bind them together
  < ---- excited, excited !!

Sunbonnet Sue & Missing chicken handbag

A-ha !!   Found these photos in my hard disk.  This Sunbonnet Sue and missing chicken handbag was actually my old work back in 2011.  Back at that time, I difficulty accessing to blogspot from Shanghai, In the end, I no longer do any blogging.  So since I “meet” these project photos again, I want to share them in my blog.

I like this scene so much, it’s nolstagic and heart warming and I remember that was my second project in machine applique.  Take a look at the expression of little chicken there.  The angle of its eyes was really a hard one and I remembered sweating a little when sewing the eyes ^v^ hahah….. can’t help laughing just to think of that moment.  It was really a big “phew” after completion.

Apart from that the shape of the bag is pretty unique too.  It may look small in the eye but you will be surprise that it can actually put quite a number of goodies (one of my biggest criteria when making bag too).   My only regret here is I never thought of making pattern for this one that time … (~n~).  Any way, it’s just so great to see this bag again.

I always want to add more surprises to my bag projects, see the bag side of the bag, apart from a beautiful quilted pattern, I added a little pretty Lily of the valley applique.  I love this flower so much and went searching for the flower language.  It said Return of happiness, purity of heart, sweetness, tears of the Virgin Mary, you've made my life complete, humility, happiness, love's good fortune. The legend of the lily of the valley is that it sprang from Eve's tears when she was kicked out of the Garden of Eden. It is also believed that this flower protects gardens from evil spirits. Also known as the flower of May.”  What a perfect match of floral language for this bag. So it was added to my bag.

What is the story of this bag, I will leave it for you to tell ^v^

Able to access to blogger again !!!!

Hurray !!! I am able to access to blogspot again, yeah !!!! Today, my husband sent me a link that provides a proxy to bypass screening server in China. I am able to access to blogspot again. I am so happy ^^.

Here are some of my works during the "unable to access blogspot" period

12/10/2010 , Sunbonnet Sue clutch pouch.  This pattern kit (from Minami Kumiko) is a gift from my friend, Sophea (how wonderful of her ^^).  Though I was struggling with the wedding ring project that time, I tried to free up myself to make this pouch from time to time.  Sophea was so proud of me when I showed this pouch to her (I managed to make it during my tight project).  How I miss my dear friend these few days cause she is now traveling to Eastern Europe.  I love this pouch so much, the size is big enough to put my purse, handphone and some cosmetics.  Very Japanese country patchwork indeed :>

Bag in Bag 30/11/2010

Introducing bag-in-bag concept.  This is currently very popular bag in Japan (especially if you are handmade maniac).  It is actually a bag by itself AND an organiser for bigger bag.  Imagine carrying a big bag, isn't it difficult for you to locate even your handphone ?  This beautiful organiser actually solve your problem.  The bag has 2 sides, different Japanese Kimono prints in each side.  Take a look ^^

.
Take a look at how your things are organised ...

I will slowly begin to sell this bag in Etsy under the name Cotton Friends.  Right now, I am designing few more items for sell soon.  Please feel free to drop by and enjoy my works :)

9/12/2010, Wedding Ring, with Love.....

I sewed these pieces when I visited Leeds, UK , in November.  As a result, this project is really memorable and meaningful to me ( I actually visited UK, WOW).

Look at this colorful projects, how many pieces of fabric did i use ?  It took me few days to cut out and arrange them (combined with worrying feeling about the result).  Right now, I am just so happy to see the real result.  (**Big big laugh**)

Basting !

23/4/09
After coming back from Japan, my neck condition was so much better. So long, after I finally managed to move my head without feeling 'electrify' at my fingers and toes. Before that, i tought of giving up already, I really need to thank GOD for sending me a good doctor to cure my problem.

Today, i am going to do basting for my entire project. My husband is traveling to Hong Kong now, I can make use of the entire living room space to spread my project.

First, I need to spread the inner fabric, facing down, as shown below. Then, tape the four sides fabric with masking tape.

After that, place the batting on top of the inner fabric as shown.

Finally, for the next few days, I make sure I eat full meal, make sure I have enough energy, on my mark, kneel down and basting all the way from center to the sides.

28/4/09
As expected, 4 days to complete basing the whole piece, I am really exhausted. And my weight reduced by 2 kg.

Now that I realise it is sunny outside.
