A winter story, Merry Christmas. A unique collectible handmade boston / shoulder bag

The bag has a little story to tell you. It's about winter, it is starting to snow. The surrounding is suddenly filled with wonderful and peaceful atmosphere. Yes, Christmas is around the corner. Merry Christmas to you, let's celebrate this wonderful season with joy !

I am using Japanese taupe / yawn dyed fabrics (shortly be available in my Etsy shop) to make this bag to create very natural look of houses and background for this project.  Japanese taupe are widely used in Japan by most patchwork guru like Yoko Saito, Minami Kumiko for their works.   Here is some examples of art works using taupe fabrics.

The front side of the bag is partial hand and machine stitched little houses appliqué.  The snowy sparkling beads are carefully sew onto the bag, creating a sparkling effect for this bag.

The bag has 2 pockets, the one as the window at the back of this bag and an inner pocket to further help you organize your personal items.

At the back side of the bag is snowing view from my window.  Well, is it really a window at all ?  No, it is also a pocket for you to put your handy item such us travelling ticket or cards, maybe your phone too.  A "Let it snow" is embroidered near the little window, I think it add more meaning to this side.

While designing this bag, I decided to make this shape of this bag into something unique.  It is pretty wide to accommodate all the little applique houses. Also, its height is just ideal to put in quite a long of your daily goodies.  As this bag is padded with polyester batting and quilted, it is just so easy and light to carry around.  Besides that, if not in use, it can also be decorative art work on the wall or display closet.

I usually collected lots of decorative accessories and zipper pullers handy.  This tower clock zipper puller is also my collection.  It just add more character to this bag.  I love this idea ^v^

Story Quilt's classic vintage clutch purse and pattern

I noticed that a lot of Japanese ladies love to use pretty good size and cute clutch purse when they are having their leisure outings.  The size of the purse is normally big enough to put some cosmetic items such as lipstick and compact powder, money and personnel document, and maybe a smartphone too.  It’s light and easy to carry around.  I like the idea so much (especially when I have shoulder pain sometimes).

With simple twist in the fabrics and clutch frame used, I am able to change the style of the clutch purse to suit my occasion.  Since I have got nice rosy vintage fabric, I prefer to make a vintage clutch purse today.  Hmmm …. Size wise , I have a few 12.5cm clutch frame, let met start with that size of clutch purse.

With just 3 pieces of fabrics for FRONT and INNER sides, and fusible interface or iron on batting and 12.5cm clutch frame, I am able to start my clutch purse project already. This project is just perfect for friends with all level of sewing skills.  And for friends with beginner sewing skill, it is advisable for you to try out clutch purse project, you will surely learn a lot of technique here.

Here is the result of my work, if you are fast enough, you can complete this within the day.  Hope you like my work ^v^

It is also a way to decorate your dressing table too.  I love the idea of making bag not only for daily use but also, I want it to be a decorative item at home.

New Tote bag , About Anne, of green gable ? Maybe ^v^

The moment of truth has come !  Finally my bag project is completed.

It’s the story about little Anne , of green gable ? Maybe.  I remember this scene in this story book where Anne was sitting by the plain field waiting for the someone from the big houses to pick her up.  The view is pretty soft and pure.  I just love it and immediately started designing this handbag.

2 very elegant tote bags for an elegant Thanksgiving day

3rd November 2011, Autumn, shanghai.

Hmmm.... the fabric looks so elegant and it has been in my fabric cabinet for quite some time.  I decided to make something simple and elegant to fully present the beautiful print of the fabrics (from Kokka Japan).

This is what I want to present for my first tote bag.

The bottom layer is quilted and sewed with tiny lovely pearls to further present the elegant details. (above)

With the contrasting layer, the bag is now added with more soft colors.

Of course, I always want both the front and inside of my bag to be presentable and cheerful.  This teddy was left over fabric.  I  can't do any more bag with the small piece of fabric but I just love it.  With a little thinking, I decided to stitch it up to the pocket beside my brand  ^v^

I always love the feeling that when I open my bag, I feel so happy to see the interior too.  Let me see, something soft and brightening should give such appearance. 

Petit floral fabric is chosen to create very comfortable feeling the pretty owner, making sure that the moment she opens her bag, she is always so happy to enjoy not only the outside, but also the interior of her new bag. that's the goal of Story Quilt. Making you happy all the time. ( ^ v ^ )

Beautiful stitch on pearly ribbon definitely add more elegant characteristic to the bag, YES !  I am going to put it onto my bag too.

Husband's bag

This is my second project for Intermediate level. Collecting the fabrics were such a hassle cause during that time, most of the beautiful fabrics were out of stock. I went to a few fabric stores around here to collect fabrics I wanted at the same time waiting for the new stock to arrive. that's the main problem of learning patchwork in Shanghai. We always know that most of the fabrics were made in China but you will be surprised that it's really really hard to get nice quality fabrics within China, this is because most of the nice quality stuff are meant for export. how strange right ?

It took me 2 weeks to complete this bag. I gave for my husband as a gift cause he is my main sponsorship for this course .
At least this should cover his mouth for not complaining me buying too many fabrics that stock up our reading room now. :>

Patchwork bag

This was my 4th project, a patchwork bag. I found that the most time consuming task when making bag was the beginning, where you got to choose the color combinations, the fabric print, inner fabric used etc. Sometimes i found myself have to go through few rounds of comparing colors and fabrics before I could make final decision.

Next, need to cut the fabrics into required shapes. If the project is big, you won't be surprised that you could end up cutting fabrics for the whole day.

Next, quilting, my favourite task!

After quilting the required area, next is to sew up the side as shown below.

Finally, sew up the bias strap (for the opening area) and the leather straps, here's my bag !!
